Our Story
A Family, a Dream, and a Whole Lot of Good Food
Alfredo's Mexican Restaurant was born out of a simple idea: bring real, authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex food to a community that deserved it. In 2006, Alfredo Suarez — originally from Mexico and raised in Texas — saw an opportunity to do just that in Lampasas, a small town in the heart of the Texas Hill Country that didn't have much of it.
Alfredo grew up in Austin, but he had always dreamed of opening a place that felt like an extension of his own kitchen — warm, unpretentious, and full of food that made people happy. Lampasas was the right fit. He found a spot on Hwy 190 heading toward Kempner, rolled up his sleeves, and got to work.
From day one, it was a family operation. His wife, kids, son-in-law, and close friends all pitched in. That's still true today — walk in and you're likely to be greeted by Alfredo himself, making his way around the dining room, saying hi to every table. That's just who he is.
A New Home on Sulfur Creek
In October 2012, the restaurant moved to its current location — a much larger space right alongside Lampasas' Sulfur Creek. The move opened up something special: an outdoor patio nestled next to the creek, shaded by trees, where guests could enjoy their meal with the sounds of the water nearby. It became one of the most beloved spots to eat in the area.
The patio has hosted countless birthdays, family dinners, first dates, and quiet Sunday lunches. Mariachis have played there. Kids have grown up coming here. For a lot of Lampasas families, Alfredo's has become part of their routine — and that's exactly what Alfredo had in mind.

Growing the Family
In April 2010, Alfredo opened a second location in Kingsland, TX — the same story as Lampasas all over again. A community without many options, a good opportunity, and Alfredo ready to fill the gap. The Kingsland location brought the same family atmosphere, the same menu, and the same commitment to quality to the Highland Lakes area. See both locations.
Both locations are still run by the family — Alfredo's daughters, sons, and other family members are part of the day-to-day. When you come in, you're not walking into a chain. You're walking into someone's family business, and they take that seriously.

Fresh, Authentic, and Made With Care
The menu is a genuine mix of authentic Mexican food — think street tacos, carne asada, chile rellenos — classic Tex-Mex like fajitas and enchiladas, and American favorites like T-bone steaks and chicken-fried steak. Something for everyone, done right.
Alfredo is particular about quality. Ingredients are sourced from Mexico — no long shelf-life shortcuts — and everything is made fresh daily. You can taste the difference.
And if something isn't right? Send it back. Alfredo means it when he says he wants every guest to leave happy. That's not a policy — it's just how the family operates.
Come Join the Family
Whether you're a Lampasas local who's been coming since 2006, a visitor passing through the Hill Country, or someone stopping in for the first time — you'll get the same warm welcome. Alfredo will probably come say hi. The food will be fresh. And you'll leave full and happy.
“Welcome Amigos!”
